Shellac is very similar to gel but only lasts about two weeks. If like me you are planning on using regular nail polish as your shellac color apply a layer of top coat to your nails after you have let the base coat sit for 10 seconds under the lamp. Basically these nails are placed over your natural nails to either extend your nails or just shape them according to the size of your natural nails.

Can you paint over shellac acrylic nails. If you wish to temporarily change the colour of your nails whilst wearing Shellac you can use nail enamel over the Shellac but please be sure to use an Acetone Free Remover if removing nail polish between appointments. For the most part gel and acrylics will take a little more effort.

Apply cuticle oil twice a day and use a good hand moisturizer regularly. SNS nails look vertually the same as shellac and acrylic nails but the difference is in the technique used to create the finished product. Thus if you want to extend your nails then turn to acrylics.
